christmas 2021

anyone that knows me knows that i do not typically love christmas. however, after the most tumultuous year of my life to date, i figured a little holiday cheer was necessary. luckily, my brother was willing to oblige.

for all of my fellow hip hop lovers, our crewnecks are paying homage to “area codes” by the one and only, ludacris. if this kind of christmas sweater is up your alley, you can find it on amazon ranging in sizes xs to 5xl in green, red and black. i let pooh bear pick his color first and it worked out perfect since red is his favorite and green is mine.

my little brother has been a constant source of support and inspiration in my life. this year has been on another level. there is no one i’d rather spend christmas with.

happy holidays from me and mine to you and yours!

a little leopard never hurt anyone

can you blame me for reminiscing about being on vacation after a 12 hour work day? while i normally love swim separates, this one piece from asos caught my eye in the fall (back when i thought i’d be spending the week before christmas in kauai).

it’s fun, it’s flirty and can easily be paired with a skirt or some shorts to create a little outfit.

i tend to gravitate towards swimsuits with wire/structure. while this one doesn’t have that, it does have this black belt that loops around just under the bust near the natural waistline. definitely adds a little something extra.

because i was more concerned with cocktail time than thinking of photos for my blog, i have included a couple from the actual website so you could see the suit in all its glory.

since this number is sold out, i have included a few of my favorite one pieces from asos.

1. this mixed print black and white number is to die for!

2. an all white ruffled one piece would be perfect for those bachelorette parties this summer

3. a sleek and sexy one piece in black? count me in.

4. florals for spring? groundbreaking.

summer is calling my name!

at the beginning of the month, i was fortunate enough to spend a week in puerto rico with some of the most wonderful humans i know. while a recap of the trip will likely be up eventually, i had to show you all one of my new swimsuits from old navy right now!

something i love is that you can mix and match them since they are sold as separates. and, if you are fuller on top or in the trunk, you can buy the size to accommodate that. old navy has tons of bathing suits that are inclusive in size.

i don’t know if it is because the weather forecast shows that it’s going to be in the 80s this weekend or if it is me being water obsessed but summer really is calling my name. i will be posting more suits soon. i hope everyone’s week is off to a solid start.

saturdays are for suspenders

it seemed like it had been forever since i had put on something new to go out. that being said, a girls trip to vegas seemed like the perfect excuse to snag something fresh. i wanted to look and feel good for our night out at crimson in bloom. this combo from asos + nordstrom definitely did the trick.

the skirt with suspenders was a new purchase from asos. the leather jacket is an oldie but a goodie (also from asos). while it has been in my closet for over a year (thanks, COVID), the goldenrod bodysuit is from nordstrom’s bp section and was only $15! while this particular one is sold out, they have plenty of other options for both color and cut offered in sizes from xs to 4x. what i loved most about it was how soft and smooth the ribbed detail was AND there was no annoying snap closure – i just stepped right into it.

here is a close up shot so you can see a little more detail:

i have already thought of a million other ways to style this skirt with suspenders – an oversized sweater with high top sneakers, a sleek black bodysuit with heeled booties, a pastel pink scoop neck with ballet flats. the possibilities are endless.

everything is made better with pockets

i have a lot of nicknames that people have come up with for me. one of them is the cardigan queen. i live in cardigans! not only do i love the feel and how it can shift the look of what i have on, i also have to keep my tattoos covered at work. a cardigan is the perfect way to do that without the stiffness of a jacket or a coat. plus, i tend to run a bit warm so having the ability to easily roll up my sleeves is a must.

as if i wasn’t already obsessed with my custom crewneck, imagine my excitement when hazy + rose co. rolled out so much great inventory including amazing cardigans?! this was made exponentially better when i saw that one of my favorites came with pockets.

i am all about figuring out how to look put together while also being comfortable for my endless number of zoom calls daily. bonus points are given when the item is functional. with me having misu (my little maltipoo) now, pockets are great for me to throw my keys and phone into when taking him down the block for potty breaks. this amazing cardigan allows for all of that. plus, i somehow only had one other black cardigan (gray is my favorite neutral so a lot of my staples are in that color instead).

hazy + rose co. has so many great pieces that are perfect for working from home that transition well if you are leaving the house. when buying an item, i often think about the cpw (cost per wear). a cardigan like this one can be worn with loungewear, to work (as pictured here), to brunch (with a crop top and some skinnies) or for date night (with a fitted dress and a pair of booties). the possibilities are endless.

lucky for you all, hazy + rose co. is having another drop this sunday, the 24th. for those of you in the sacramento area, a pop-up shop is happening on the 13th (my birthday!). and, a HUGE drop is scheduled for valentine’s day. if you are not doing so already, be sure to follow hazy + rose co. on the gram. you will be happy you did!
